The driver of the No. 10 Chip Ganassi Racing Honda lost the lead to Josef Newgarden with 35 laps to go, after the latter made up a five-second gap in 15 laps to go from third to first. Then Newgarden pitted from the lead with 28 to go and a caution flew with 22 to go that trapped Newgarden a lap down, but gave Palou back the lead. Which he held onto after a restart with 11 to go and drove to victory in the Farm to Finish 275 Race No. 2 at Iowa Speedway.

"Honestly, it's tough. It's tough," Palou said. "That's why it's so fun to race in INDYCAR with these teams, with these different tracks. It's different challenges that you have. You go to a street course and you need different techniques than on a road course, and then you go to an oval and you have superspeedways, and then you come here and it's completely different to IMS.

"It's super fun, keeps you awake, keeps you having to push every single weekend, and honestly, I was already super happy yesterday with our first pole here. But to be able to get our first win here and fighting on track, it's been a good day. It's been super fun."

It's his 18th career victory in 93 career NTT INDYCAR Series starts and eighth of the 2025 season.

Scott Dixon brought his No. 9 CGR Honda home to a runner-up finish and Marcus Armstrong rounded out the podium in his No. 66 Meyer Shank Racing Honda.

"Yeah, it was definitely an interesting weekend for us," Dixon said. "I think all the cars yesterday weren't typically great on the high lines. On the 9 car side at least we threw the kitchen sink at it, at least try something different, use it as a bit of a test session.

"It was a bit iffy at the start. We were a bit off on COP and bars and all that kind of stuff, but once we got it dialed in, it was pretty good. I think we were able to manage the stints quite well, tire life was quite good, and that enabled us to save a bunch of fuel and extend the windows when we needed to. I think today for most people it was about catching the caution and going as long as possible.

"The undercut was not great for us. The overcut was a bit better. Obviously you could run really fast times at the end. I don't know, I think we worked on the car all day and got it pretty good, and another stint I think we could have had a really fun race with the 10."

David Malukas and Saturday's winner, Pato O'Ward, rounded out the top-five.

Christian Lundgaard, Felix Rosenqvist, Christian Rasmussen, Robert Shwartzman and Newgarden rounded out the top-10.

Palou led the field to green at 1:20 p.m. ET, but caution flew on the first lap when Devlin DeFrancesco got loose and spun into the Turn 4 wall. He collected Scott McLaughlin in the process.

Back to green on Lap 12, Palou caught the back of the field on Lap 32. Caution flew on Lap 50 when Sting Ray Robb hit the wall in Turn 1. Everybody pitted under the caution. Shwartzman dropped to the rear of the field for speeding on pit road.

Back to green on Lap 65, Newgarden overtook Palou on the high line exiting Turn 4 for the race lead. Unlike Saturday, Newgarden lapped cars with greater ease. He pit from the lead on Lap 130, as caution flew for Marcus Ericsson, who suffered a right-front tire failure and hit the wall in Turn 4. This gave the lead back to Palou and trapped Newgarden a lap down. Which he got back when the field pitted under the caution.

Back to green on Lap 142, the race settled into a green flag run. Until caution flew on Lap 176 when Callum Ilott broke loose and rear-ended the Turn 4 wall. Kyle Kirkwood stayed out to take the race lead.

Back to green on Lap 191, Palou jumped to the high line to fight Kirkwood for the race lead. Kirkwood edged him out at the line on Lap 192, but Palou completed the overtake for the race lead on Lap 193. Newgarden, who with 50 laps to go was five seconds back, overtook Palou into Turn 1 to retake the lead with 35 laps to go. He pitted from the lead with 28 to go and momentarily stalled it on exit. Malukas cycled out ahead of him and Palou took the race lead. Caution flew with 22 to go when Colton Herta hit the wall in Turn 2.

Back to green with 11 to go, Palou drove onto victory.

Will Power dropped off the pace from fourth on Lap 21 and made an unscheduled stop. An engine failure ended his race.

The race lasted one hour, 48 minutes and 39 seconds, at an average speed of 135.761 mph. There were six lead changes among three different drivers and five cautions for 58 laps.

Palou leaves Iowa with a 129-point lead over O'Ward.

The NTT INDYCAR SERIES returns to action, next Sunday, at noon ET on the streets of Toronto.

The man who ICE called an "MS-13 kingpin" after an Omaha-area arrest last week entered the country illegally in 2016 and admitted to being a gang member, court documents reveal.

Court documents reviewed by The World-Herald of Omaha say that 50-year-old Melvin Varela Perez also had at least one previous encounter with law enforcement in Nebraska: In 2023, Valera Perez pleaded guilty to driving without a license in Platte County.

Court documents say that Varela Perez had an expired Texas driver's license at the time.

ICE did not directly identify Valera Perez, saying that the arrest was part of an ongoing investigation.

But his full name appeared in a video posted by the White House, and in an X post from Florida Rep. Byron Donalds. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office also used Valera Perez's name in an email to the media on Friday about an I-80 traffic stop that set in motion the arrest.

Valera Perez was taken into ICE custody Wednesday in Council Bluffs, Iowa, in an arrest celebrated by Nebraska politicians and the White House.

Federal authorities say that Varela Perez is one of the 100 most-wanted fugitives in El Salvador and that he's wanted in that country on charges of aggravated homicide of five victims, attempted aggravated homicide, deprivation of liberty and terrorist organization affiliation.

Federal court documents reviewed by The World-Herald say that Valera Perez admitted to being an MS-13 gang member to a U.S. Border Patrol agent on Sept. 22, 2016, at the Sarita, Texas, U.S. Customs and Border Protection Checkpoint, after entering the country illegally a few days earlier through the Mexican border.

He pleaded guilty to entering the U.S. illegally and was turned over to the U.S Marshals.

A Douglas County Sheriff's Office traffic stop on July 6 of Rene Saul Escobar Ochoa, 30, a known associate of Valera Perez, led to their arrests.

The Sheriff's Office said in a press release Friday that Deputy Matthew Baber, along with his police dog, Jing, stopped Escobar Ochoa driving eastbound in a blue pickup truck near the 42nd Street exit on I-80 in Omaha.

Spencer Head, a spokesperson for the Sheriff's Office, said the blue pickup was merging without using a turn signal.

The Sheriff's Office said Baber "felt something wasn't quite right" during the traffic stop.

Head said Baber's feeling stemmed from Escobar Ochoa giving the deputy answers that "just didn't seem to add up."

Head declined to go into specifics, saying the information was "law enforcement sensitive." He said Escobar Ochoa presented a Texas driver's license to Baber.

The Sheriff's Office said Baber ran Escobar Ochoa's information through a federal database. The results showed that Escobar Ochoa was on an MS-13 watchlist.

Head said local and state law enforcement, including the Sheriff's Office, don't have the legal authority to arrest someone on a federal watchlist.

Additionally, since Escobar Ochoa was pulled over for a minor traffic violation, the deputy didn't have the legal authority to arrest him.

Baber released Escobar Ochoa and relayed the information to the Nebraska Information Analysis Center, run by the State Patrol and federal law enforcement officials.

Cody Thomas, a Nebraska State Patrol spokesperson, said the Nebraska Information Analysis Center developed information regarding "a known criminal illegal alien" in Omaha and shared it with Homeland Security.

"The NIAC Fusion Center is connected with law enforcement entities worldwide and works to quickly disseminate crucial information to keep communities safe in Nebraska and beyond," he said.

That ultimately led to ICE agents arresting Escobar Ochoa in North Omaha and Varela Perez in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on Wednesday.

Escobar Ochoa is wanted in El Salvador for allegedly giving orders to fellow gang members to commit a variety of crimes, including multiple homicides, extortion, imprisonment and drug trafficking.

An ICE press release said U.S. Border Patrol first encountered him in 2023, and he was allowed to remain in the country.

As of July 12, Escobar Ochoa was being held at the Dakota County Jail, just south of South Sioux City, Nebraska.

Varela Perez is being held at the Hardin County Correctional Center in Iowa, about 80 miles north of Des Moines.

ICE said both men are in the country illegally and are coordinating with El Salvadoran authorities to deport them.

This was after Sinner arrived at three match points in the fourth set of his Wimbledon final against Carlos Alcaraz on Sunday.

Just as on the Parisian clay, 23-year-old Sinner was the better player for long periods. Just as at Roland Garros he had the title in his hands.

But unlike that day when three consecutive match points vanished in the fourth set and Alcaraz roared back to win the longest French Open final ever, this time the ice-cool Sinner was never going to be denied.

Alcaraz, who was bidding to become the only fifth man in the professional era to win three successive Wimbledon titles under the watchful eye of Spain's King Felipe in the Royal Box, saved one match point.

But this time there was no escape for Alcaraz as Sinner fired down an unreturnable serve.

There were no ecstatic celebrations either. Sinner raised his arms to the sky, before consoling the man he de-throned and headed off in time-honoured fashion to embrace those in his box.

"Back in the days when I was young, this was only a dream, because it was so far away from where I'm from," the man from the Dolomites who could have become a top skier, said on court.

"Emotionally I had a very tough loss in Paris. So I'm very happy that I held my nerves and yeah, it's an amazing feeling."

In an afternoon BC Wildfire Service update, the Eastgate wildfire had spread to 725 hectares from an estimated 291 hectares in the morning.

On Saturday, crews working on the Placer Creek fire were redirected to the August Lake fire, which has been burning closer to homes.

Sunday morning, BCWS told Castanet fire activity was to be expected to increase over the day as heat and wind would impact growth.

As of 3:40 p.m., 23 personnel were responding, heavy equipment, and a helicopter were on the southern fire.

Wildfire activity may pick up at the two wildfires burning near Princeton and the surrounding area due to rising temperatures.

Early Sunday morning, BC Wildfire Service crews reported Rank 1 to Rank 2 fire activity at the 14-hectare August Lake wildfire, burning near Princeton, with "minimal growth overnight."

"But as we see the temperature increasing a little bit over the mid parts of the day, that fire behaviour might increase a little bit, and we'll see more of Rank 2 fire behaviour. Still with a slower rate of spread, but a little bit more vigorous surface flame," said Cassidy Martin, BCWS information officer.

As of Sunday, 40 firefighters were on site, along with structure protection specialists, and three helicopters.

"So, if people see a bit more smoke throughout those hotter times, it is to be expected, just as those fuels dry out."

Due to the August Lake fire, evacuation orders are in effect south of Highway 3, west to Amber Hill Road / Darcy Mountain Road adjacent of Sewer Treatment Plant, east to Willies Ranch Road, Princeton Golf Club, and Taylor Mill Drive.

Additionally, evacuation alerts are in effect north of Highway 3 along the Similkameen River, south of Princeton Cemetery Road, east of Copper Mountain Road, west of Willie Ranch Road.
