These views reflect what New York Times opinion writer Jessica Grose recently observed in her own reporting on Gen Z. "Dozens of conversations with members of Gen Z have convinced me that the most prominent aspect of their generational character is that they're small‑c conservative," she wrote. But it's not about political allegiance -- it's about values. "They're constitutionally moderate and driven by old-fashioned values."

Still, these teens aren't all fully relying on traditional norms to shape their expectations. "I honestly think, like, it's whoever asks the person out," said Lilia, noting the heteronormative aspect of the whole situation: "Especially if you're not in a straight relationship -- that's kind of different." Theo agreed: "I think if you ask to go, then you pay." And Sophie was quick to clarify that while she thinks it's great when a date offers to pay, she'll always volunteer to split the bill.

That blend of traditional sentiment and modern equality is exactly what shows up in conversations like these. "We had a look at a couple of her trials and we decided to buy her, thankfully Jackson stayed in the ownership and we've had a lot of fun already."

Cicala will be ridden by Rochelle Milnes, who will almost certainly be crowned Adeliade's Premierhsip-winning jockey on Saturday.

Weekley said he expects the filly to be effective on the predicted heavy conditions, with Adelaide set to receive up to 50mm of rain across Friday and Saturday.

"We're really looking forward to Saturday and the wet ground holds no fears," he said.

"She's drawn out a bit and that will probably suit by that stage in the day.

While looking at a paper presented to him by the president, the fed chair said the president was including the cost of renovating a separate Fed building that was finished five years ago.

Trump's Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought sent a letter to Powell saying the president is "extremely troubled" that the renovation may have violated government building rules.

The president put two close aides on a commission to review the Federal Reserve building plans.

It all comes as Trump has been pressuring Powell for months to lower interest rates, urging him to resign and calling him a "numbskull."

On the tour, Trump joked he would back off Powell if he lowered rates, but Powell maintained that the central bank is holding rates steady to see how tariffs impact inflation.

It's been an extraordinary attempt to reshape the central bank, which has traditionally decided U.S. monetary policy without a political leaning.

Although Trump appointed Powell in 2018, legally, he cannot remove him without "cause." Economists warn that removing a Fed chair could shake financial markets and create instability in the U.S. economy.

During the tour, Trump said during his career as a real estate developer, he would fire someone for cost overruns but said he wouldn't fire Powell.

"To do that is a big move and I just don't think it's necessary. And I believe that he's going to do the right thing," Trump said.

Powell's term is set to end May 2026.

Plans for the renovation were first approved by the Fed's governing board in 2017.

The fed says part of the reason for cost overrun for the renovation is because of the complications of underground construction, tariffs and building materials have soared in price since the original estimate. Fed staff also pointed to the complication of historic renovations, both buildings have significant preservation needs.

The president will likely be disappointed again next week, as the overwhelming expectation is that the fed will hold rates steady in its Wednesday announcement.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, whom Trump has floated as a potential replacement for Powell, said in a recent interview with Fox Business, "There's nothing that tells me that he should step down right now. He's been a good public servant."

"Every year, I feel like, coming into it, it's going to be a big year," Tuipulotu said when asked if he believed the 2025 season could be even more of a breakout season for him than his first two. "That was my mindset going into last year and it's going to be the same coming into this year."

Tuipulotu said he has swapped texts with Bosa since Bosa's departure in March.

"I hope he's doing good, but, yeah, I miss him," Tuipulotu said of Bosa.

Tuipulotu, Mack and Bosa formed a rotation for most of the past two seasons, but especially in 2024. Tuipulotu made 11 starts in 2023 and nine in '24. He had 4.5 sacks among his 53 combined tackles as a rookie and led the Chargers with 8.5 sacks among his 42 tackles this past season.

Tuipulotu and Mack are expected to be joined by veteran Bud Dupree, who might also earn more playing time during the 2025 season with Bosa playing with Buffalo. Dupree, who is entering his 11th season in the NFL, was a valuable depth player last season, and he might be even more so this year.

"You don't want a guy to be comfortable, but also within a defense you can get more comfortable and you can learn, and he knows exactly what we want him to do," said Jesse Minter, entering his second season as the Chargers' defensive coordinator. "He also has a playmaking skill-set, too.

"I think the really good players, it's like, can they do what you want them to do? Do they also have that little magic where sometimes they go outside the realm and make a play? The really good, productive players have always been that way. I think he can be that. I think he's done a great job of taking advantage of the opportunity."
