Swiss luxury brand TAG Heuer has unveiled a new smart watch, the Connected Calibre E5, the first to be certified under the Made for iPhone (MFi) program. The company has completely abandoned Wear OS in favor of its own TAG Heuer OS operating system, developed by a team of 60 engineers in Paris.
The new platform provides a smoother interface, improved animations and navigation via touchscreen and mechanical buttons. With Apple MFi certification, the watch provides fast synchronization of notifications, calls and health data - a problem area of previous generations on Wear OS.
Hardware Features
Available in 45mm and 40mm cases, the Connected Calibre E5 features a Snapdragon 5100+ processor and a AMOLED display with enhanced brightness and response. Among the features:
- pulse, blood oxygen, sleep and physical activity monitoring;
- built-in microphone and speaker for calls;
- fast charging via USB-C dock (up to 24 hours of use in 30-40 minutes).
Battery life and price
Claimed battery life is up to three days in economy mode and up to two days in normal use.
The TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E5 is available now at the brand's boutiques and online. Price starts at US$1,600.
