š• prepares to launch XChat with "Bitcoin-style encryption"

1. Moving to a new messaging platform

š• (formerly Twitter) is working on the launch of XChat, a messenger that will replace the familiar Direct Messages. At the moment, a beta version of XChat is already available to some paid users of the platform. The presentation of the new feature has been confirmed by developer Nima Ouji and personally by Ilon Musk, which guarantees that the company is serious.

2. Key Features of XChat

XChat will be different from previous solutions and offers the following features:

  • Bitcoin-style encryption: a built-in blockchain-like cryptographic scheme to secure correspondence reliably
  • Disappearing Messages: can be set to automatically delete text after a set amount of time
  • Any file support: Send documents, images and large media files without restrictions.
  • Audio and video calls: built-in voice and video sessions that don't require additional applications to be installed

With these features, XChat is destined to become a universal tool for personal and business communication.

3. No phone number required

According to Ilon Musk, XChat will not require a phone number: a š• account will suffice. This greatly simplifies registration and increases the level of anonymity. This approach eliminates the need to depend on a SIM card and gives users more freedom to communicate.

4. Future plans and launch dates

The exact release date of XChat for all users has not been announced yet. The company's press offices note that the full launch will take place after beta testing is completed and all bugs are fixed. Most likely, we will see a mass release in the coming months, when the encryption technology will be finalized. Users can only wait for the official announcement and prepare for the transition to the new communication platform.
